5-stage planning
and implementation process
There’s a surprising amount to consider when designing a garden, which is why it’s smart to call in the experts. Our Guide to Garden Design outlines in general terms what you’ll need to think about when planning a redesign, and offers helpful hints on how you can optimize your garden and take much of the anxiety out of a redesign project.
- The Initial Visit
Your opportunity to discuss your requirements in general terms. We’ll agree in outline terms a way forward and let you know the costs involved. This visit is free of charge.
- The Survey
After the initial visit and if costs are agreed we will survey your property and create a scale drawing. At this stage we also take a photographic record of the site for our use in helping design the garden, but which will be yours to keep as a reminder of how it was before.
- The Concept
From the survey we create an outline concept for your garden. This will take into account your requests and put forward our ideas; some of these will have been discussed, others will have emerged from the process of surveying the site and subsequent initial design.
- The Plan
After the conceptual plan has been agreed we produce a detailed outline plan which shows all the aspects previously discussed. This is a full colour drawing with a black and white copy. It is accompanied by a plant list and planting plan which gives pot, girth and height sizes. Where applicable we also provide sections of detail to highlight levels and designs.
For an additional cost we can also provide full pictorial and detailed plant lists, isometric and/or axonometric drawings, and artist’s impressions.
- Tendering
Once you have agreed the design we can provide you with a comprehensive itemized costing. By dividing the job into as many items as possible you can see where the costs go: this stage also gives you an opportunity to fine-tune the design.
